Improving the app launcher user experience in Azure AD

Howdy folks,

Imagine a user visiting your companys Azure AD app launcher for the first time and finding exactly the apps they need to be productive and effective. No confusion or clutter. A dream scenario, right?

Youve sent us more and more requests for features that allow you to better manage third-party apps as youre onboarding them to Azure AD, so your users can have a cleaner, more efficient experience. Weve heard those requests and are working to help Azure AD administrators better control what applications their users see, and were starting with the ability to hide apps.

Weve just rolled out a new feature that gives you the ability to hide third-party applications from the end-user experience. This is incredibly helpful for a few reasons:

  • You can better manage applications that require multiple instances or are back-end services that need to be assigned to users but dont have an interface.
  • You can test a new application by initially hiding it before exposing the app more broadly.
  • You can reduce confusion and help clean up your users’ app launchers.

Check out this one-minute video to see how it works!

This is just the start! Well soon be releasing the ability to hide first-party applications, like Office 365 apps, from users access panels. Other exciting features on our roadmap include role-based access control to configure local app admins and the ability to customize end-user experiences. We cant wait to share more news soon!

Please keep sharing your feedback and suggestions on the Azure AD feedback forum. We want to hear from you!
